Run the Little Debbie 7 Miler with McKee Foods!
Q: First things first! Can you introduce yourself and your organization to our readers?
A: We are the team behind the Little Debbie Race Series, representing McKee Foods, makers of Little Debbie® snacks. Based in Collegedale, Tenn., our goal is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle within our community while celebrating the spirit of family and togetherness that has been at the heart of our company for decades.
Q: Terra Running is excited to be part of the Little Debbie 7 Miler in May! How long has the race been going on?
A: The race series began in March 2024 as a way to engage our local community in fitness through a fun, family-friendly event. We’ve now hosted five races and each one has been better than the last. Though it's a newer addition to the local racing calendar, it has quickly become a highlight for our neighbors and a wonderful way to celebrate health and family in the heart of Collegedale.
Q: What is the course like?
A: It’s a beautiful, scenic route that showcases the very best of Collegedale. The start/finish line is at the 10+ acre Little Debbie Park and the Commons in Collegedale. The 7-mile course is relatively flat and beginner-friendly, taking runners along the Collegedale Greenway. It’s a truly engaging run where you’ll pass a tranquil pond, a winding creek, crossing under various bridges and through a tunnel. This keeps the scenery fresh every mile. The run also passes through the Collegedale Veterans Memorial Park. It’s a great course for those looking to set a PR, but it’s also scenic enough for those who just want to enjoy a Sunday morning run.
Q: What does the race raise money for?
A: Proceeds from the race benefit the Collegedale Veterans Memorial Park. We are proud to share that our March 2026 run successfully raised $3,000 for the park! We believe in investing in these meaningful outdoor spaces where our community gathers to honor our veterans and stay active.
Q: What do runners and walkers get for participating in the race?
A: Participants receive a high-quality race shirt and a finisher’s medal. But the real crown jewel of our race is the finish line — participants are greeted with an abundance of Little Debbie snacks! There’s nothing quite like a celebratory Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie or Sunbelt Granola Bar after crossing the finish line.
Q: What is something unique about your race you would like people to know?
A: The distance itself is quite unique! You don’t often see a 7-Miler. We chose this distance because it offers a fun challenge that is just a bit longer than a 10K, making it a perfect goal for those looking to push themselves without committing to a half-marathon. Plus, having the giant snack cake mascots cheering you on is an experience you won't find anywhere else.
Q: What was the idea behind the race?
A: The idea was to create a family fun run atmosphere that catered to everyone. We wanted an event where the serious athlete could run a timed 7-mile race, but where families could also come out for the shorter 5K run, 5K walk or Kids’ Dash, and enjoy the day together. It was built on the idea that fitness should be fun and accessible to all ages.
Q: When is packet pickup?
A: Packet pickup will be held at the Little Debbie Bakery Store on Thursday, May 28, from 3-6 p.m. We will also have race-day pickup available at the start line for those traveling from out of town, but we encourage local runners to stop by early to grab their gear!
Q: Anything else you'd like to share?
A: We’ve worked hard to keep this event affordable for the whole community; registration is just $37 (plus fees), and the Kids’ Dash is only $10.
We are also thrilled to announce a brand-new Kids’ Zone for our May run! It’s going to be a blast for the little ones, featuring a petting zoo, an inflatable obstacle course and plenty of outdoor games.
We are so grateful for our partnership with Terra Running— their professional timing ensures a seamless experience for every participant. We can’t wait to see everyone at the starting line on Sunday, May 31! Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just chasing an Oatmeal Creme Pie, we’ll see you at the finish line!
