Record-Breaking Turnout for the 9th Annual Cleveland Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K

More than 600 runners from 10 states and 2 countries participated in this year’s expanded event

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (October 25, 2025) — More than 600 runners from 10 states and 2 countries came together in downtown Cleveland to participate in the 9th annual Cleveland Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. For the first time in its history, the event featured three race distances: the signature half marathon, a new 10K distance, and the ever-popular 5K. This year’s race marked the largest field since the inaugural event in 2017. Though the event remains extremely popular locally, 30% of participants traveled from outside Bradley County to take part.

This year’s half marathon distance was designated as the Road Runners Club of America’s (RRCA) championship half marathon for the state of Tennessee. Runners who finished first in their respective age groups were recognized by the RRCA with a medal in addition to the standard age-group award prize. In the men’s division, the race was won by Robert Moody of Cleveland, Tennessee, with a time of 1:21:41. Ariel Ellis of Atlanta, Georgia, took first place in the women’s division—and second overall—with a time of 1:22:56.

The Cleveland Half Marathon is a USATF-certified course that takes runners from downtown Cleveland through Lee University’s campus, into the city’s historic district, and onto the Cleveland Bradley Greenway. The 10K and 5K courses follow the same route but turn around sooner for their respective distances.

Another highlight of the 2025 event was the participation of more than 100 elementary school–aged runners from the Terra Kids Run Club. The run club, launched in August at six area schools, was created to help 3rd through 5th graders get active and connect through the sport of running. The 10-week program culminated in club members running the Visit Cleveland 5K, which they had been training for throughout the season.

The Cleveland Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K is produced by Terra Running Company alongside a group of generous sponsors. Bradley Medical Center headlined the half marathon as the title sponsor, while Visit Cleveland, TN served as title sponsor for the 5K distance. Other sponsors included the Nashville-based sunscreen brand Melan, the RVRB Agency, and Andrew Dinsmore. Aid stations and turnarounds were supported by volunteers from the Historic Cleveland Neighborhood Association, the Rotary Club of Cleveland, Bradley Central High School Cheerleaders, Bradley Central High School Interact Club, the Cleveland YMCA, and Dr. Bill Estes’ Lee University Gateway Class. Kona Ice and First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland sponsored stations at the finish line. In addition to these official groups, the event was made possible by many community volunteers who contributed their time and effort to create a memorable experience for all participants.
