Get to know one of our new employees, Hope!
Hi, my name is Hope! This is my fourth year living in Cleveland after moving from Wilmington, Delaware, and I officially became a Tennessee resident this past year. It’s been such a sweet season of growth, change, and finding community.
My running journey started back in middle school honestly, just from being “stuck” running the mile in gym class. I started out in track, but quickly fell in love with long distance running. I also have minor cerebral palsy on the right side of my body, and it’s something that has shaped my journey in so many ways. Over time, I’ve realized that it doesn’t define my limits it’s actually part of my story and strength. I’ve always believed that you can do anything you put your mind to, and more importantly, that God created each of us with purpose. He made me exactly how I’m meant to be.
When I was younger, I dreamed of competing in the Paralympics. As life got busier, that dream was set aside but recently, running has found its way back into my life. Working at Terra Running Company has played such a big role in that. It’s helped me reconnect with running and reminded me why I loved it in the first place.
I recently signed up for the Chattanooga 7 Bridges Marathon this October, and I’m so excited. One of the biggest challenges right now is adjusting to the elevation Delaware is very flat compared to Tennessee and of course, the humidity doesn’t make it any easier!
One of my favorite parts about working at Terra is getting to know the community and hearing everyone’s stories. I also love learning about all the different shoes we carry and helping people find what works best for them and their goals.
If you’ve never shopped at Terra before, my biggest piece of advice is to walk in with an open mind and let the experience guide you. It’s not your typical shoe store Terra focuses on fitting you, not just selling a specific brand. Be willing to try a few different options and trust the process. Whether you’re running, walking, or on your feet all day, being honest about your needs helps us find the best fit for you. In the end, it’s not about choosing a trendy shoe, it’s about finding the right one, and that makes all the difference.
