RC3 Funky Monkey Glow Run
First things first! Can you introduce yourself and your organization to our readers?
My name is Cindy Horton. I'm the director of the Rhea County Community Center (Rc3). We are a non-profit whose mission is to...Build a healthy community with Christ as our cornerstone. We were the Rhea Family YMCA for over 30 years and transitioned to our own non-profit in 2016 after our Y branch was closed down. We provide fitness facilities, youth and adult sports and programs, Silver Sneakers, and after-school programs at reduced rates and offer financial assistance so everyone can participate!
What about the 5k? What was the inspiration behind this event and how does it help you all accomplish your mission?
The Funky Monkey Glow Run is a fundraiser for our Strong Community Campaign which is our annual drive to support the financial assistance we provide and free programming we offer like after-school tutoring. Wondering about the name:)? Dayton is home to the Scope's Monkey Trail, so we wanted to pay homage to this beautiful little city and make this race unique and funky fun! Glow with us!
How long have you all been putting this event on?
This will be our 15th year!!
Can you give us some details -- where and when is the race? Is there anything unique about it that runners should know?
Join us for the 2025 Funky Monkey Glow Run benefiting the Rc3 Strong Community Campaign on Friday, October 17, 2025!! This run will be ...fast, flat, funky, and fun! Wear your funkiest glow gear! Medals for all finishers and place medals for the 5K! Place medals for 12 and under / 50+ 1 milers. Strollers and walkers welcome but will start at back of the pack!

Packet pick-up - 5pm Fri. 10/17/2025 @ Rc3
5K and 1 mile start: 8:00pm
This is a timed race! Terra Running Company
5k runners receive a performance shirt, 1 milers a cotton shirt.
o 5K - $30 (after 10/2*: $35)
o 5K 18 & under and College Students- $25 (after 10/2*: $30)
$5/runner Group discount for 5K teams of 6 or more
o One Mile Walk/Run - $15 (after 10/2: $20*) (no group discount)
*Guaranteed shirt date. All registrations after this date may not receive a shirt on the day of the race but will receive one within 2 weeks of race.
Please wear appropriate clothing and gear for running after dark.
